Brown County Genealogical Society was organized in 1986 to encourage the enjoyment and study of genealogy; to assist others in gathering their families’
genealogical information; to preserve and to publish material of historical and genealogical nature - all for educational purposes. But we think of its
purpose as fun, friends and research!
Member Events: Member gatherings and field trips are focused on genealogy. They may involve education/learning, research,
collaboration, collecting/preserving/indexing materials or any combination of these.
Meeting Event Logistics: Planning, preparation and leadership for events is on a volunteer basis. The member who
volunteers will select the topic or activity, location, and date/time for the meeting. Our "home base" is the Brown County Public Library in Nashville, Indiana but meetings may occur in various
locations - either inside or outside of Brown County. Our regular meeting time is 1:00pm on the second Thursday of the month.
Board Meetings: A three-member board handles the business, planning and directional needs of the organization. Regular board
meetings are held semi-annually. Special meetings are held to address specific needs.
